Htilominlo temple

          Built the temple in the early 13th century by king Htilominlo, It is not only a two story temple but also a temple with horoscope paintings inside the building. Besides the good brick structure,  there are horoscope charts which inscribe the special events of the temple. Especially, they were inscribed between the 15th and 18th centuries. 
        Htilominlo means the umbrella's wish and the king's wish. According to the story, the king had three sons, but he wanted to give the throne of Bagan for the son who was worth it. Literally, the eldest brother must get the throne of Bagan according to the heredity after the king dies.  
     But, he did not choose the crown prince in terms of the hereditary way.  And, the king wanted the person who was worth the palace. So, after calling his three sons, he told them to sit facing the umbrella and then, he said," May the umbrella fall towards the person who is worth the palace." Then, the umbrella fell towards the youngest son. So, he was crowned for the Bagan palace. To commemorate the special event, he built the temple after he ascended the throne of Bagan.  
      The people used astrology in the ancient time as well for choosing the date and time in constructing the buildings and holding the festivals. They also had the horoscope chats for the dates when they were born. The horoscope charts explained about the people's destinies in their lifetime. Even today, the people who live in the rural area have the horoscope charts in terms of astrology.  
       The bricks of the temple were arranged in rows and columns for the durability of the temple. This is the significance of the temple.  
       Every entrance has a sitting Buddha statue in the corridor to be offered the candles by the pilgrims. 
     There are many shops in the compound of the temple which attract the visitors to buy. So, Htilominlo temple is a good place for shopping while they are visiting pagoda.

Shwezigon pagoda in Bagan

        Shwezigon pagoda is located in Nyaung U area near the airport . And the pagoda was built in the place to be able to see from the Ayeyarwaddy river. King Anawrahta built Shwezigon pagoda in the east and Thantchitaung pagoda in the west to show his empire in the 11 th century.       Before king Anawrahta built the pagoda, he made the solemn wish. The king’s solemn wish is, "May the elephant kneel on the spot which is the good place to build the pagoda.” And then, the elephant knelt on the spot where the pagoda was built.       The king built the pagoda enshrining Buddha's the collar bone relic in 1011 AD, but he could  not finish building the pagoda.
